Traffic Management Policy

Safety of our children in the Ennis educate Together National School is one of our Primary concerns.  This Policy has been devised solely with the intention of making the car park, which by necessity has countless cars coming and going at the busy times especially in the morning, as safe a place a possible.

There are some basic principles which everybody should share when in the car park:

  1. Drive slowly at all times (crawl speed)
  2. Park spaces provided only
  3. Hold the children by the hand
  4. Coming into and leaving the school.  Young children should be led directly to the school gate as there are moving cars throughout the car park area which is unavoidable.  Older children should be supervised according to their parent’s discretion.

Attached to this document, you will find a drawing of the yard.  In considering this, you should please note the following:

  1. Any parent/guardian (or other visitor) wishing to park their car should do so in the two designated parents/guardians parking areas (denoted blue in the attached).
  2. Other than the two designated area, parents/guardians should only pause momentarily to allow their children out of the car near the gate.  Effort must be made to keep the cars moving around the turning area.  If you do need a few minutes with your child or have any other purpose, please proceed to the parking spaces and not obstruct any part of the “moving” areas (yellow in  attached).
  3. Staff parking and bus areas are to be kept clear.  It is especially important that the bus area is kept clear so that children coming off the bus (red in attached) are able to jump off at a foot path in front of Cois na h’Abhna.
  4. The areas around the entrance/exit (in the town end) should be kept clear  at all times so that cars wishing to proceed directly to the parents/guardians parking areas can do so.
  5. The wheelchair only area should be kept clear at all times (orange in attached).

Safety of our children in the car park  is entirely our responsibility so please keep our car park accident free.
